Job Description

The Applications Support Engineer – Insurance & Investment Banking will ensure the 24/7 stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the Software Systems and appliances that support the core business, through proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments for the entire KCB Group.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Implement and adhere to regular systems maintenance policies and procedures, including change request mechanisms and update schedules to ensure optimum uptime and service availability.
  • Research software systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Participate in the system acquisition process
  • Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, charts and implementation roadmaps to provide strategic direction to the business.
  • Perform recovery and testing of systems and processes by the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, and processes.
  • Creating and maintaining best practice policies and procedures for business users; ensuring that there are adequate controls around that all service improvements are managed effectively and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Perform System Administration for systems running Linux and Windows Operating Systems and ensure system availability, stability and optimum performance are met for the end users.
 The Person

For the Applications Support Engineer – Insurance & Investment Banking position, the successful applicant should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.
  • Professional Qualifications/Certifications in the following; –
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)/ Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)/ Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.
  • Microsoft Azure /Amazon Web Services certified
  • LINUX Administration
  • Database Management, Oracle/SQL
  • ITIL
  • Master’s degree in IT or Management studies is an added advantage
 EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • At least 2 years experience with insurance and investment systems.
  • 2 years experience with integration Methods and practices XML, JSON, SOAP.
  • 2 Years’ experience in handling a variety of computer platforms and operating systems e.g. MS Windows server, Linux.
