Tourism Fund is a body corporate established under the Tourism Act, 2011 which came into operation on 1st September, 2012 vide special issue Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 93 of 24th August, 2012. The Fund is the legal successor to Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees.

JOB SUMMARY

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS1.      Masters degree from a recognized university in Information Science, Information Communication and Technology or any other relevant, related and equivalent qualifications2.      Bachelors degree from a recognized university in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Communication and Technology or any other relevant, related and equivalent qualifications;Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies1.      SAP Advance Business Applications Programming (ABAP/4);2.      Member of the Computer Society of Kenya;3.      A Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;Previous relevant work experience required.At least ten (10) years relevant work experience five (5) of which must be in management in the public service or private sector

RESPONSIBILITIES

1        Oversees the preparation of strategic, business continuity plans and operational plans for the ICT department to ensure all necessary ICT tools, processes and systems are in place to meet the requirements of the business and contribute to the achievement of short- and long-term goals of the fund.2        Manages and provides oversight for the implementation of an ICT security strategy and disaster recovery plan that minimizes the risk of data loss and breach of privacy of the organization’s information and that of its prime contractor and other managing agents.3        Spearheads the sourcing strategy to ensure appropriate procedures are in place to select equipment and services vendors.4        Guides ICT systems to ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements by undertaking periodic review of ICT systems requirements as prescribed.5        Leads preparation of ICT department status reports to guide the senior management in decision making.6        Oversees the development of ICT departmental work plan to guide on the day to day operations of the department and conduct staff performance evaluation to ensure timely execution of tasks and achievement of the set targets.7        Leads policy reviews and updates existing regulations on computing management including drawing of specifications for ICT services and system projects;8        Oversees implementation of ICT systems and staff performance Contracts;9        Approves technical specifications for all ICT equipment; ensuring standards for Voice, Radio, Video and Data communications/IT networks for all offices/stations of the Fund;10    Guides formulation of ICT systems design standards and ensures that they are adhered to;11    Supervises and provides guidance to procured ICT consultants, implementers and suppliers;12    Manages human, financial and material resources assigned to the department;13    Provides advisory functions to top management on all matters relating to the implementation ICT systems and infrastructure;14    Guides the development of procedures on the distribution and issuance of ICT resources;15    Guides the development and review of ICT innovation and Enterprise Master Plan;16    Steers designing and implementing effective ICT innovations frameworks and platforms that foster successful outcomes;17     Collaborates with the local and international innovations hubs towards successful ICT innovation in the Tourism sector;18    Coordinates carrying out annual systems audit to ascertain the level of technology adoption at the Fund;19    Guides monitoring and evaluation on the status of ICT innovation and enterprise in the organisation and the Tourism Ministry.20    Oversees and reviews the Funds ICT Capacity Building Masterplan and strategy; and21    Leads the development of frameworks, platforms and tools to facilitate the achievement of an appropriate level of ICT competence by the funds staff.
