ABOUT THE COMPANY

On a significant note, the vision for an Open University in Kenya came to fruition on August 3, 2023, when the institution was awarded a Charter by the Honorable President of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto. The charter ceremony took place at Konza Metropolis, located in Machakos County. This event marked a crucial milestone in the educational landscape of Kenya and affirmed the commitment of the government to expand higher education opportunities beyond the conventional brick- and-mortar universities.

The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to pursue higher education without the constraints of physical presence and limited campus capacities.

JOB SUMMARY

Requirements for AppointmentFor appointment to this grade, one MUST have:Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain) or equivalent qualification; At least six (6) years' experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Driver I or its equivalent;Valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles or plants which the officer is required to drive; Passed Occupational Trade Test for Drivers Grade III from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or Ministry of Roads and Public Works; First-Aid Refresher Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;Passed Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology or Ministry of Roads and Public Works;Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service; Proficiency in computer applications; Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
