The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to pursue higher education without the constraints of physical presence and limited campus capacities.

JOB SUMMARY

Requirements for AppointmentFor appointment to this grade, one MUST have: An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field accredited university recognized by OUK Senate.At least three (3) years teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent; and research experience.A minimum of sixty (60) equivalent publication points since attaining Associate Professorship or equivalent, of which at least forty (40) should be from refereed scholarly journals.Supervised a minimum of five (5) postgraduate students to completion including at least two (2) at doctoral level.Registered with the relevant professional body (Where applicable).Attracted research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.Proficiency in ICT.
