Job Summary

Jacaranda Health is in search of an experienced individual to take on the role of Head of Data & Analytics with a goal of developing and implementing a departmental strategy that aligns with Jacaranda Health's mission and growth. The primary focus is on achieving high-quality maternal and child health outcomes through data-driven solutions. This position offers the opportunity to lead a rapidly expanding team dedicated to supporting the implementation, evaluation, and expansion of Jacaranda's technology-driven health solutions. As the Head, you will lead a dynamic Data and Analytics team, collaborate with other departments, provide data for machine learning and AI-powered mobile platforms, oversee program implementation, conduct research analysis, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. The role involves providing advanced statistical expertise, guiding data collection and analysis, and interpreting Jacaranda Health data to address impact-related questions and enhance product design.

Reports to: Director Research, Design and Evaluation

Preferred start date: March 2024

Main Responsibilities
Develop and execute a data and analytics strategy that supports Jacaranda's mission
  • Assess organizational needs and create a robust strategy for the next 3-5 years
  • Establish and follow through with a roadmap to achieve the strategy
  • Collaborate with all Jacaranda Health departments to make data-driven decisions
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for internal and external teams
Enhance Jacaranda Health's data infrastructure as a user-focused decision-support tool
  • Develop user-friendly dashboards that integrate real-time data sources to address program-related queries
  • Evaluate user experience of dashboard data to ensure effective decision-making
  • Incorporate user feedback into dashboard design and delivery
Analyze data to support program delivery
  • Create and implement an analysis plan to evaluate the organization's impact
  • Assess program outcomes and health results
  • Apply advanced statistical models for program enhancements
  • Utilize data to improve organizational focus on end users
Maintain high-quality data for organizational use
  • Develop efficient data collection and management processes
  • Propose enhancements to optimize data management
  • Ensure data practices comply with global ethical standards
Implement effective data communication strategies
  • Identify and address internal and external data communication barriers
  • Promote data-based decision-making across all staff and external partners
  • Create interactive data visualizations and lead knowledge dissemination efforts
Lead a skilled Data & Analytics team
  • Recruit top talent to support the data strategy
  • Mentor team members to deliver quality outcomes and foster individual growth
Requirements

The Head of Data & Analytics position requires:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience
  • 3 years in a managerial role overseeing data teams
  • Proficiency in STATA, SPSS, SAS, or R
  • Knowledge of SQL and Non-Relational Databases
  • Proficiency in MS Office and G-Suite
  • Ability to apply advanced statistical techniques
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Understanding of quantitative research methods
  • Experience in networking and relationship building
  • Self-motivation and leadership abilities
