Our programme areas focus on youth, child development and care reform, peace building, emergency response, agriculture and livelihoods, water, health and orphans and vulnerable children. We have focus on cross cutting thematic areas including environmental management and climate change, private sector, local capacity building and gender. This work is implemented in partnership with county and national governments as well as civil society, including faith-based and secular organizations. CRS Kenya's work is almost exclusively with and through local partners and Government agencies.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Project Officer – GIS & Visualization works with the Nawiri team to identify the most useful analysis to undertake on data that is available in database and visualize the analyzed results in a format that useful for decision making and reporting. The Senior Project officer will utilize advanced data analysis and visualization platforms that support analysis of regular and big data to provide the required analysis. S/he will build the capacity of technical staff in utilizing the visualization platforms and in identifying useful analysis for their work. Visualization will also be in the form of maps, using the latest GIS tools and platforms to show Nawiri implementation and community-based assets such as water points, farmer fields, meeting points. The officer will also be called upon for form building using CommCare and visualization using PowerBI when the need arises.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Analysis and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment.Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely, influence and get buy-in from staff and local partners.Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented.Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.Presentation, facilitation, training, and mentoring skills.Strong active listening and communication skills using both formal and informal approaches.High integrity with ability to manage sensitive information professionally while maintaining confidentiality.Demonstrated commitment to respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion.Required Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication in English, with ability to write reports.Travel: Position is based in Nairobi. Supervisory Responsibilities: Possible supervision of data entry clerks and/or interns (if needed).Key Working Relationships Internal: M&E Technical Lead, A&L Officers, Project staff, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) staff.External: Implementing partner M&E officers and consortium partner staff, peer agencies' staff, and community members.QUALIFICATIONSBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in economics, statistics, ICT, or another quantitative field is required. Formal/certification in relational databases and/or advanced visualization platforms is an added advantage.Minimum of 3 years of work experience in project support, ideally in the field of data analysis, visualization, GIS, and reporting and for an NGO.Proficient in data visualization software such as PowerBI, ArcView GIS, Tableau, Zoho Analytics, and Visme. Proficient in advanced statistical applications such as SPSS, R Studio or STATA, EpiInfo, Nutrisurvey). Formal training in at least one data visualization and one statistical software is an added advantage.Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.Knowledge of USAID indicators tabulation and calculation.Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.Experience in using mobile-data collection and management software (e.g ODK, Commcare,I-form builder, Kobo)Demonstrated experience in facilitating groups, meetings, and events (both online and in-person), resulting in collaborative decision-making with agreed-upon action items/priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement the data analysis and visualization initiatives for Nawiri that will ensure consistent and timely access to high quality and useful analysis and visuals for information sharing, reporting and adaptive management.Develop interactive activity maps that shows the location of the RFSA community structures (e.g. water points, anchor groups, health units) in consultation with sector teams.Ensure project documentation for data analysis, mapping, and visualization is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices.Work with the communications department to develop infographics for various information sharing initiatives such as newsletters, bulletins, and project reports.Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to implementation plans, whilst collaborating with the technical teams in addressing identified gaps and inconsistencies.Ensure learning consistently accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.Work closely with the database specialist to create new and update existing dashboards for Nawiri indicators and specialized surveys such as the recurrent resilience analysis (RRA), Participant based Annual Survey (PaBS), Annual Report, Nawiri Scorecard, and post distribution monitoring (PDMs) amongst others.Participate in tool design, scripting and pre-testing on CommCare when required
