One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty.
About The RoleThe goal of the Tupande Digital Team is to revolutionize how we serve our customers across the region through technology that works for our people.
You will be focused on shaping the business strategy and processes through data and leading the data team.We are specifically interested in someone with a tech background but leaning more towards strategy setting and people leadership at this point in their career.
You will lead a team of 3-4 Associates/ Senior Associates and report to the Director, Tupande Digital Strategy.Responsibilities
Lead and create an environment in which data and evidence are systematically produced, analyzed, interpreted; and establish how knowledge is institutionalized and utilized for growing Tupande's impact work
Set the vision, leadership, and strategic direction of the data work and drive it through the data and team, to build a data-driven culture within Tupande
Lead the strategic design, delivery and maintenance of the data work that give meaningful insights on our performance, support Tupande's priorities and accelerate innovation
Build a high-performing data team through capacity building and professional development

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for.
For this role specifically, you will have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science
Experience in data querying and modeling languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab.) and documentation
Experience in advanced systems including machine learning and artificial intelligence with the ability to translate our needs into technical solutions
At least 3+ years of data lead or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling
3+ years setting data strategy and leading a team with communication experience
Experience working with data teams including data engineers, data scientists and business intelligence teams collaboratively
Experience communicating to non-technical and technical stakeholders
