NGO Positions Available in Nairobi. The Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) is a non-profit community conservancy organization with a mission to create resilient community conservancies that improve lives, promote peace, and preserve natural resources. Currently, NRT works with 45 community conservancies in 10 different counties in Kenya and Uganda.

Vacancy: Senior Fundraising and Partnerships Officer - NRT Coast Region

The Senior Fundraising and Partnerships Officer will be part of the Coastal senior regional team responsible for managing a significant portfolio of public and private grants. This role involves identifying funding opportunities, fostering relationships with potential funders, leading proposal and bid writing efforts, coordinating with various departments within NRT, and monitoring grant statuses.

The Coordinator will also track opportunities throughout the funding cycle, address challenges that may arise, and collaborate effectively as a team member.

Key roles/responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of bilateral, multi-lateral, and foundation donors to build long-lasting partnerships.

  • Lead the development of grant proposals in collaboration with regional implementers.

  • Enhance relationships with funders to promote understanding and mutual accountability.

  • Coordinate grant project planning and reporting, managing ad hoc teams effectively.

  • Assist with proposal budgeting, financial report review, and monitoring expenditures.

  • Handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ensure compliance with NRT policies and external requirements.

  • Engage in negotiations with partners, conservancy members, and funders.

  • Communicate NRT's mission to diverse stakeholders.

  • Travel frequently and work flexible hours as needed.

    Experience Required:
    • Minimum 5-8 years of experience managing large grants for Bilateral and Multilateral agencies.

    • Experience in organizing proposal development workshops and creating grant proposals.

    • Interest in environmental conservation, community-based resource management, and development.

    • Thorough understanding of Kenyan and Ugandan conservation issues.

    • Ability to cultivate long-term relationships with external partners.

    • Proficiency in donor tracking systems and monitoring multiple prospects.

    • Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, adaptation, and learning frameworks.

    • Experience working in diverse, fast-paced teams.

    • Training in fundraising principles and practices.
