JOB SUMMARY

Required Qualifications for the PositionDiploma in Pharmaceutical TechnologyRegistered/Enrolled with The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) with a current Practicing License.2 years of experienceComputer Proficient

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurate and timely posting of all pharmacy computer transactions for billing purposes.Carrying out timely ordering for stock replenishment to the pharmacy store to maintain optimal stock levelsCompounding, re-packaging and dilutions of drugs according to laid down guidelines.Providing drug information to patients, doctors, nurses and other medical staff.Participating in regular drug expiry, monitoring the pharmacy to identify and document items with expiry of less than six (6) monthsLiaises with user departments to ensure adequate stocking and proper storage of emergency drugs and intravenous infusions and minimize losses due to expiries and damages.Participating in quarterly stock take exercise and ensuring timely explanation of stock variances.Participating in quality management system activities including documentation, analysis and reporting for continued improvement of servicesTraining pharmaceutical technologist internsEntering prescription orders into the computer and making labels appropriatelyDocumenting dispensing errors and taking measures to minimize them.Documenting adverse drug reactionsReceiving drugs and verifying against the stock transfer printoutShelving items appropriatelyParticipating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required.Any other duty assigned.
