A Motor Vehicle Mechanic is required to maintain, repair, and service the university's motor vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles are in excellent working condition and meet safety standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, inspecting vehicles, and ensuring safety compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on university vehicles, including servicing engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Inspecting vehicles to identify potential problems and provide proactive maintenance solutions.
- Ensuring all university vehicles comply with safety regulations and legal requirements.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing inventory and spare parts, monitoring tool and equipment condition, and maintaining accurate records of services and repairs.
- Collaborating with the Transport Manager to schedule vehicle repairs and maintenance routines.
- Providing regular reports on vehicle condition and recommending actions for improvement.
The ideal candidate will hold a diploma in Auto Engineering, have a valid driving license, and at least 10 years of experience as a senior mechanic. Experience with heavy commercial vehicles and computer literacy is an added advantage.
