Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced HSE Officer to join our Operations Department in a busy manufacturing plant.

We are an energy company employing over 32,000 people in 73 countries worldwide, engaged in oil and natural gas exploration, field development, and production, as well as the supply, trading, and shipping of natural gas, LNG, electricity, fuels, and chemical products.

As an HSE Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures
    • Complying with local and state regulations, including OSHA and DOT
    • Providing HSE training, awareness, and induction to staff, contractors, and other relevant parties
  • Performing safety audits and inspections
    • Preparing written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures
    • Following up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Investigating incidents and making recommendations
    • First line responsibility for incident investigations
    • Making initial recommendations and putting measures in place to prevent recurrence
  • Assisting in the development and evaluation of safety programs
    • Keeping HSE statistical records, such as incidents, accidents, near-misses, and working hours on site
    • Ensuring the well-being of the workforce and HSE compliance within the plant
  • Carrying out risk assessments and outlining safe operational procedures
    • Identifying and taking account of all relevant hazards
    • Advising on specialist areas, such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases
  • Acting as Emergency coordinator on site
    • Monitoring environmental footprint on site
    • Compiling monthly site HSE reports
  • Implementing emergency and crisis management plans
    • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

This is an opportunity for you if you have:

  • Environmental Engineering/Environmental Studies degree or diploma
  • Fluent in English
  • Relevant experience as HSE Officer, preferably in a vegetable oil extraction plant or a busy manufacturing plant
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with HSE management systems in an industrial setting
  • Knowledge of ISO safety, quality, and environmental standards (preferred)
  • OHS certification or equivalent
  • Risk Assessor certification would be an advantage
  • Auditing and Root Cause investigation technique
  • Quality control and assurance
  • Project management
  • Flexibility, results-oriented, problem-solving, decision-making, and good communication skills
