Specifically, The Marine Program Manager, Angola Will

Lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the marine program for Angola, including Marine Spatial Planning incorporating marine protect areas, marine biodiversity policy reform, blue carbon, large-scale fisheries, coastal community-led conservation, and livelihood interventions consistent with the Africa Oceans Strategy and TNC Country Strategy.

Support TNC's relationship with the national government regarding marine affairs, with aim to assist national blue economy conservation priorities and objectives.

Contribute to national level planning efforts that increase ocean conservation outcomes, including climate mitigation and resilience plans, marine spatial plans, and coastal zone plans.

Support efforts to create and advance community-led strategies for better managed coastal fisheries and marine areas.

Assist in developing reports, presentations, and assessments on related topics, as well as internal and external communications materials that reflect the program's objectives and priorities.

Lead and manage local project team to support and improve marine conservation efforts.
Develop and work within a budget to complete projects.

Manage and actively support fundraising by contributing to concept notes and proposal writing, and representing the Africa Ocean Program where/when needed.

Support efforts to ensure that public and private funds are raised to meet program needs.
Build diplomatic cooperation and strategic partnerships to accomplish program goals.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written).

May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

Frequently make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.

What You'll Bring

Experience in working in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

Project management experience
Experience in development and implementation of online and in-person trainings and workshops.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience are appreciated.
Experience implementing and reporting on activities funded by bilateral and multilateral funders.
Willingness and ability to undertake extended periods of field travel (at least 40%) domestically and internationally.

​​​​​​​Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree and over 7 years' experience in (preferably marine) conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Be politically savvy within the national and regional context
Excellent facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written).
Ability to frequently make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the coastal fishing communities.
