The University has a unique history that has evolved through different educational phases.

It was started in April 1929 by a British Colonial farmer cum educationist by the name William Thomas Alfred Levet.

The Institution was by then a whites' only primary school with a large farm, which was sold to Guy Bullen in February 1959.

Job Title :
Senior Lecturer - Grade AC 13

Basic Salary:
Kes. 144,450 – Kes. 206,563 per month

Terms of Service :
Successful candidate will be offered the adjacent remuneration package on three (3)
years' contract renewable subject to satisfactory work performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and mentor both students and staff in their area of specialization/expertise.
Lead research/innovation teams in area of specialization/expertise.

Provide strategic leadership in development of academic programmes and research activities in their area of specialization/expertise within the department.

Be a member of the departmental and School academic board to provide leadership in their area of specialization/expertise.

Departmental development:
Teach and train in their area of specialization/expertise at the appropriate level.

University development:
Mentor and develop teaching programs and skills in their area of specialization/expertise.
Research and innovation, solicit funding and develop research programs and teams in their area of specialization/expertise.

Networking:
Create networks with local regional and international organizations in their area of specialization/expertise.

Academic publishing:
conduct scholarly and academic publishing.
Input into the department budget development in their area of specialization/expertise for departmental development.
Identify and develop research/innovation products for income generation in their area of specialization
Create linkages and partnerships.
Develop research and academic programs.
Management and administration of examinations and assessments.
Offer career guidance and mentorship.
Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:
For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

An earned Doctorate degree (PhD) or equivalent degree in the specified specialization or related field from an accredited and recognized university; and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

OR

A Master's degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university (in special cases) with at least three (3) years teaching experience at the university level or in a research or in industry; and

At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at the University level as a Lecturer or six (6) years research/industry experience.

A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
Supervised at least three (3) post graduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent;
Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Ability to utilize Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) systems
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of the Kenya 2010.
