Kasha is a rapidly growing startup e-commerce company in East Africa that focuses on women's health and personal care, offering a variety of products from menstrual care to beauty items.

Kasha provides easy access to its e-commerce platform through various channels including website, app, USSD, call center, and social media.

Job Purpose:

Your main role will involve developing and managing compliance programs and policies to reduce risks and encourage ethical practices at Kasha.

You will work closely with different departments to ensure compliance standards are met throughout the organization.

Responsibilities also include conducting background checks on new staff, investors, customers, and agents to uphold existing policies and leading internal audits on various compliance areas.

Managing a risk management framework and measuring key risk areas are crucial aspects of the role.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
    • Continuously monitor regulatory changes and adjust compliance strategies accordingly.
    • Conduct background checks on new staff, investors, customers, and agents.
  • Develop and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks through audits and monitoring.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, especially in the healthcare sector.
  • Provide compliance training and promote a culture of compliance.
  • Conduct audits and investigations into compliance breaches.
  • Deliver compliance reports to management and maintain accurate documentation of compliance activities.
  • Offer guidance on compliance matters and collaborate with various teams.
  • Establish positive relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, and legal counsel.
  • Oversee contractual agreements and contract management.

Role Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, risk management, or related field.
  • Experience in ESG, Impact, and Business Integrity.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Previous experience as a Compliance Officer in retail, wholesale, healthcare, or tech industry.
  • Good understanding of laws and regulations related to data privacy, pharmaceuticals, telemedicine, and consumer protection.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks, risk assessment, and internal control systems.
  • Knowledge of technology-driven platforms, e-commerce, and digital health solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders.
  • High integrity and ethical standards with discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Proactive approach to anticipating and addressing compliance risks.
  • Experience in dealing with Fraud in retail and wholesale sectors.
