NRT is a community conservancy membership organisation. The 35 member conservancies work across 4.5 million hectares of northern and coastal Kenya. With support from principal donors USAID, The Nature Conservancy, DANIDA, and AFD, and many smaller donors, NRT is supporting and empowering communities to develop locally-led governance structures, run peace and security programmes, take the lead in natural resource management, and manage sustainable businesses linked to conservation. The community conservancies are starting to have a significant impact on building peace, improving lives and managing the rangelands, and their success has helped shape new government regulations on establishing, registering and managing community conservancies in Kenya.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking at recruiting dynamic and experienced Deputy Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic leadership and oversight to all internal functions within our organization to enable us to serve our growing community conservancy membership effectively. The Deputy CEO will be responsible for overseeing finance, programs, operations, people, and internal audit functions. The individual will play a critical role in operational planning, execution, process streamlining, and resource management, while also focusing on organizational change management and transformation to enhance professionalization within the organization which is in the growth trajectory.Qualifications and Experience:Master's in business administration, Project Management and any other related field.Proven experience of 10+ years in operations and 7+ years in leadership roles.Excellent decision-making, strategic thinking, and interpersonal capabilities.Strong understanding of finance, program management, human resources, and operational processes.Experience with multinational conservation-focused NGOs .Experience with complex organization that required matrix management of technical teams across a vast landscape.Passion for community development and wildlife conservation.Willingness to work in hardship areas.Reporting Lines:Chief Finance OfficerChief Program OfficerChief Operations OfficerPeople Director / HR DirectorScience & Conservation DirectorInterested and qualified candidates are required to submit their application including a cover letter, detailed Curriculum Vitae highlighting relevant experience, academic and professional certificates, testimonials, a daytime telephone contact, email address, and names of three professional referees to reach us by close of business on Friday, 9 th August 2024 to: -

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise all internal functions, including finance, programs, operations, people, science, and conservation. Support the CEO as and when required. Provide oversight and coordination to the diverse technical teams and matrix (regions, conservancies, programs) to ensure seamless execution. Lead annual planning, budgeting, execution, process streamlining, and resource management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Oversee organizational change management and transformation, developing strategies to enhance the professionalization of the organization. Oversee NRT's support to improving conservancy field operations, staff and conservancy board capacity, governance, and technical programmes. Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all departments to streamline processes and ensure compliance with organizational standards. Ensure organisational systems enable efficient and effective execution of the strategic plan; evaluate options for digitization of organisation, need for an organisation wide ERP system. Provide daily management, coaching and mentorship, and career development and training opportunities to all direct reporting staff.
