Position Summary:

Hiring for a Gender and GBV Associate role at HIAS for a project focused on improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for LGBTQ refugees in Nairobi.

The project aims to:

  • Enhance the LGBTQ refugee community's environment in Nairobi
  • Empower LGBTQ refugees to address their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)
  • Strengthen LGBTQ community-based organizations' advocacy for SRHR in Nairobi

Essential Functions:

  • Support the GBV Officer in organizing project activities, including training sessions for staff, partners, LGBTQ refugees, CBOs, and SRHR-focused agencies
  • Identify and assist vulnerable individuals from the LGBTQ refugee community, provide case management and socio-environmental risk assessment
  • Implement social assistance programs, monitor progress, and establish sustainable livelihood strategies
  • Collaborate with local LGBTQ organizations to enhance GBV service provision
  • Coordinate program design, implementation, and evaluation for LGBTQ refugees' protection and well-being
  • Prepare budget requests, monitor project progress, and ensure timely implementation
  • Work closely with Outreach Workers and Monitors to meet the needs of vulnerable LGBTQ refugees
  • Facilitate access to healthcare services and provide necessary support to LGBTQ refugees
  • Maintain GBV information systems and ensure follow-up on support services for survivors
  • Update client information and provide data analysis and reports
  • Assist in project development, proposal writing, and reporting
  • Perform additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree in Social Work, Community Development, or Gender Studies
  • 1-2 years of experience in Social Work
  • Experience in NGO humanitarian work preferred
  • Knowledge of UN conventions, Sexual Abuse Prevention, and Response
  • Skills in capacity building, diversity training, and communication
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment
  • Familiarity with Accountability to Affected Populations and Anti-Fraud practices
