Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with a background in overseeing software engineers to be part of our sustainability initiatives within the Windows and Devices division.
  • The ideal candidate will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, coding, shipping, and driving the development of engineering and data products that enhance the energy efficiency for over 1 billion Windows users.
  • Additionally, the right candidate will establish collaborations with other teams in engineering and program management fields, as well as with our internal network to implement enhancements in the Windows release process.
  • As a senior member of the team, the chosen candidate will have the chance to assume technical leadership duties, lead initiatives across teams, mentor junior engineers, and cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusivity.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND a minimum of 4 years of technical engineering experience with proficiency in coding languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 3+ years of proven expertise in people management or team leadership.
  • Solid skills in design, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Effective interpersonal abilities with a track record of influencing outcomes and conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical area AND at least 8 years of technical engineering experience with expertise in coding languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience in software design and development utilizing a key programming language.
  • Capability to effectively resolve uncertainties, prioritize and drive projects to completion, manage competing priorities, and adapt to evolving situations.
  • Proven track record of fostering engineering excellence within a team, focusing on reliability, testing, measurement, and understanding of the entire software lifecycle.
  • Attention to detail and a strong affinity for exceptional design.
  • Passion for delivering outstanding end-user experiences and results.
  • Ability to nurture and uphold organizational and interpersonal relationships.
