JOB SUMMARY

What you bring to the team:Proven management and leadership skills, allowing you to develop and mentor others as well as build credibility with your team while executing broader security strategiesDemonstrated proficiency in building and operating security incident response and security engineering programs in a product first environment Experience championing and delivering on complex technical projects involving a wide range of engineering teams, and producing measurable impactFamiliarity working with senior stakeholders across the organization, both technical and non technical, to develop roadmaps, integrate with larger company initiatives and deliver business and security value Experience being the lead technical responder or participating in large-scale and complex incident response in a cloud-based or zero-trust environment, leveraging strong analytical and data literacy skills to find the needle in the haystackKnowledge of and/or experience with technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Okta, GSuite, GitHub, etc.Working with large datasets to gather insights and validate assumptionsParticipating in an on-call rotationLeveraging technology to automate manual work

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead engineering and operations teams to enhance our security incident response capability and perform scalable security alert managementChallenge orthodox approaches and innovate security solutions to ensure the security of Shopify's first-party and third-party ecosystem.Elevate Shopify's software systems to new global maxima, by leveraging the latest trends and best practices in security. Help teams develop and implement security features, coaching on best practices while balancing product priorities for our merchants. Work with other technical leaders to set and drive technical aim towards a performant, scalable, and secure ShopifyContribute to the security engineering and incident response craft of Shopify through community efforts (internal or external), craft quality, or efforts to raise the bar, continuing to have Shopify be an industry leader in engineeringMentor and coach craft leaders, and take part in shaping culture to build a healthy and impactful teamBuild and establish the methodology and tooling to operate security incident response and alert management at scaleUse data to define and develop metrics to tell the security incident response storyOrganize and run regular game day and crisis scenarios exercisesBe willing to roll up your sleeves and participate in critical incident response and mitigation effortsRapidly provide incident response context in executive escalation to guide decision-making
