We are seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Data Analyst to join our team at UjuziKilimo. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving our mission to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability in Africa.
Job Summary:The Agricultural Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting large datasets related to soil health, crop management, and market trends. You will work closely with our research partners and product teams to develop data-driven insights that inform our agronomic advisory tools and drive farmer behavior change.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess soil analysis data and develop strategies to enhance soil health and fertility using digital tools.
- Implement sustainable crop management practices to optimize yield and quality.
- Manage and validate current data flows from internal soil analysis tools and define strategies for improvement.
- Develop methodologies and procedures for standardized analysis processes, storage of analysis results, and interpretation for dynamic agronomic advisory to farmers.
- Identify, diagnose, and develop management plans for pests and diseases affecting crops.
- Collaborate with data collection and analysis teams to develop more efficient data analysis procedures and crop recommendations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement sustainable agricultural practices that minimize environmental impact and improve long-term productivity.
- Participate in sprints on geospatial field, crop models, and text-based data for our products in collaboration with product teams.
- Work cross-functionally to support a roadmap of analyses to feed UjuziKilimo's agronomic advisory tools and Farmsuite platform.
- Contribute to a strategy to combine internal and external data sources to generate meaningful insights practical to small-scale farmers.
- Strong understanding of soil science, crop physiology, pest management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Demonstrated ability to assemble data from multiple sources into summaries capable of driving decisions to meet business or scientific objectives.
- Able to work with farm-scale trial design, data management, and spatial data analysis.
- Excels at communicating data analysis at the interface of business and agronomy/data science through clear documentation.
- Extremely comfortable working with messy datasets from a variety of non-normalized sources.
- Understands the agronomic and financial outcomes that drive farm profitability and can use that knowledge to prioritize analyses and connect insights to action.
- 2+ years' experience in the Agriculture industry working with and creating value from field data.
- BSc. or MSc. in an agricultural discipline or related field.
- Experience with spatial data analysis, data aggregation, and visualization (fluent in git, Python, SQL, and QGIS or ESRI GIS).
- Familiar with agriculture-specific data sources.
