Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Deputy Director, Health Management Services will head the national Emergency and preparedness Division.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

  • Spearheading development of policies, legislations, strategies, and guidelines on national emergency and preparedness;
Coordinating preparation, detection, response, and mitigation of public health emergencies;
Mobilizing and deploying resources including surge capacity, services and supplies;
Coordinating timely, events specific operational decision-making using available information and policies;

Coordinating information management:
collection, collation, analysis, presentation, and utilization of health event data and information to guide response; and
Spearheading of research in priority areas

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: - Served for a minimum period of ten (10) years, three (3) of which should be in the grade of Assistant Director Medical Services, Public Health or Environmental Health, CSG 7 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector;
A Bachelors degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Medicine and Surgery (M.B,Ch.
B.) or any other equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
A Masters degree in any of the following fields: Environmental Health, Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Community Health, Occupational Health Promotion and Education, or any other relevant Health related field from a university recognized in Kenya;
A Registration Certificate by relevant professional body where applicable;
A Valid Practicing License from relevant professional body where applicable;
A Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
Demonstrated managerial and administrative capability, and professional competence in work performance and results; and
Exhibited a thorough understanding of national development policies, goals and objectives and ability to integrate them into the Public Health and Sanitation function
