Achieve meaningful engagement with donors and partners during WUF 12 through well-coordinated pre-engagement meetings and smooth execution of related events; provide comprehensive analysis of acquisition trends and project pipelines, resulting in informed recommendations for donor targeting and resource mobilization strategies; facilitate informed decision-making through the preparation of supporting materials for UN-Habitat Resource Mobilization Steering Committee meetings and Donor Focal Point meetings in 2024; ensure timely and effective communication with donors by drafting official correspondences, addressing inquiries, expressing gratitude, and providing requested information; contribute to outreach activities targeting potential and existing donors, thereby strengthening UN-Habitat's donor relations and partnership network

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements.

It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

The Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit of UN-Habitat is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors and mobilizing resources for the organization's projects and programmes.

The Unit works closely with other units within UN-Habitat to ensure effective and efficient utilization of donor resources.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit the consultant will: 1. Develop the concept notes and implementation plans for the business, foundations and philanthropy engagement activities and events at the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF Conduct research to identify key potential donors and partners for engagement in activities and events at WUF 12 and beyond, with a focus on foundations, philanthropies and business. 3.

Organise pre-engagement meetings with identified partners to ensure their meaningful participation during WUF Coordinate the liaison and logistics arrangements for foundations and philanthropy partners identified for WUF 12 to ensure smooth execution of related events during the forum.

Analyse UN-Habitat's acquisition trends and project pipelines to identify opportunities and risks in resource mobilization, providing recommendations for donor targeting.

6. Research strategies, priorities, and potential areas of collaboration with strategic partners/donors. 7.

Prepare supporting materials for the second and third UN-Habitat Resource Mobilization Steering Committee meetings in Prepare supporting materials for UN-Habitat's Donor Focal Point meetings in Draft official correspondences to donors, addressing inquiries, expressing gratitude, and providing requested information.

10. Contribute to outreach activities targeting potential and existing donors.

Qualifications/special skills

University degree in International Development, International Economics, Diplomacy, Development Studies, or any other related social science courses. 2 years experience in donor relations and fundraising for sustainable development is required. Proven experience in partner engagements is desirable. Experience in planning for and organizing events at international platforms is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
