The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the UN agency for human settlements.

It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief, Knowledge and Innovation Branch, the consultant will perform the following duties:

Conceptualize and develop strategy for regional state of the cities reports Undertake research and policy analysis on regional urban trends and conditions to identify policy solutions
Develop a long-term corporate strategy for regional state of the cities reports Provide data and research inputs for the preparation of regional state of the cities reports
Support partnerships with regional organizations and other relevant actors for the regional state of the cities reports Support internal coordination and partnerships with regional offices and programs for coherence
Support regional data urban observatories for regional state of the cities reports Support the organization of events on regional state of the cities reports at the World Urban Forum Support resource mobilization strategy for regional state of the cities reports Organize events at regional urban forums and meetings on the regional state of the cities reports

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in in development studies, urban planning, international relations, economics or related fields is required.

A first university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience in urban research and policy analysis is required At least two years of experience in sustainable cities, development research and policy is required.
