Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a Japanese Non-Governmental Organization established in 1996, providing humanitarian and development assistance for people affected by forced displacement and natural disasters in over 20 countries worldwide.

Purpose of the Position:
  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of Water activities in Dadaab refugee camps
  • Collaborate with WASH team for equitable water distribution
  • Stand in for the WASH Coordinator when needed

Roles and Responsibilities:
Overall:
  • Plan to reduce WASH-related risks
  • Prepare reports on activities and WASH conditions
  • Coordinate WASH response integrating various aspects
  • Liaise with community leaders and other sectors
  • Represent PWJ in coordination meetings
  • Develop community engagement strategies
  • Monitor sectoral program resources
  • Prepare designs for WASH facilities

Water Supply System:
  • Monitor water reticulation system
  • Assess boreholes operations
  • Engage with water supply monitors
  • Support tap stand maintenance
  • Work closely with technical unit

Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Interpret data with health partners
  • Conduct routine surveys and census
  • Develop performance reports
  • Represent the organization in meetings

Required Qualifications:
Education and Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of SPHERE, WHO, and national quality standards
  • Registered member of relevant body

Relevant Experience:
  • 5+ years in WASH and 1+ year in humanitarian setting
  • Capacity building experience
  • Partner and stakeholder coordination experience
  • Design and implementation of behavior change communication
