JOB DESCRIPTION

We're looking for a skilled and reliable driver to join our team and contribute to our commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate should be responsible, safety-conscious, and customer-focused

The position of Driver is based at the East Africa Regional Office in Nairobi. The driver shall be responsible for safely transporting NRC staff and equipment/materials to approved destinations.

Generic responsibilities

1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
2. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
3. Promote and share ideas for improvement
4. Perform according to the work and development plan

Specific responsibilities

1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
2. Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
3. Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle
4. Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance/service
5. Respect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical, drivers and vehicle policies at all times
6. Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state etc.
7. In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and servicing
8. Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment i.e. vehicle insurance, licenses, logs, first aid kit, necessary spare parts and tools, etc
9. Maintain the logbook for all trips
10. Filing of all vehicle records and reports

Generic professional competencies for this position:

• Valid driver's license
• Experience from working as a Driver in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Experience in driving different makes and models
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position's responsibilities
• Knowledge of English
• The driver has to be flexible during the work hours based on Monday to friday.
• Some technical knowledge of a vehicle

• Geographical area knowledge
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili
