The Mombasa County is a county in Kenya, the smallest in area, with a capital city of Mombasa. The county is home to a Theatre Nurse position, with duties including managing an operating room, collaborating with hospital administration, and providing pre, intra, and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgery. Infection prevention, quality nursing commodities, and equipment maintenance are also key responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, or Kenya Registered Nursing in Mental Health and Psychiatry, as well as a higher diploma in pre-operative nursing and a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya. Two years of work experience in peri-operative/theatre nursing and care is also required.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Manage an operating room or unit
- Collaborate with hospital administration in designing the lay-out of theatre
- Apply the nursing process in providing pre, intra and post-operative care for patients undergoing surgery
- Be conversant with and address medico-legal issues in surgical procedures
- Ensure infection prevention and control measures are followed in the operating room
- Ensure availability of quality nursing commodities and equipment in the operating room
- Ensure machines used in the operating room are in good working condition
- Be conversant with operative procedures carried out in the operating room
- Have excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, or Kenya Registered Nursing in Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution
- Higher Diploma in pre-operative Nursing or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Nursing Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Two years work experience in Peri-Operative/Theatre Nursing and care
