The job involves providing leadership and direction in procurement, scheduling, and logistics at St. Theresa's Mission Hospital Kiirua. Key responsibilities include developing an inventory management strategy, verifying supplier qualifications, and preparing budgets. Additional duties include planning, organizing, and managing procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating meetings with staff. The role also involves monitoring inventory levels, surveying the market for trends, and spearheading negotiations on procurement matters.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, a minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a Hospital setup, and membership with KISM/CIPS in good standing. The ideal candidate demonstrates professional competence, accountability, critical thinking, and attention to detail, with excellent communication skills and experience with Procurement Management Information systems.

  1. Develop an inventory management strategy with the aim of controlling costs, generating savings, and maximizing available working capital.
  2. Verify supplier qualifications to ensure compliance with Hospital regulations.
  3. Prepare and monitor budgets for the department, including procurement and supply chain management activities.
  4. Plan and manage procurement activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and government regulations.
  5. Develop and implement procedures for procurement and supply chain management, including quality control and inspection systems.
  6. Monitor inventory levels and movement using computerized inventory management systems.
  7. Survey the market for trends in price, availability, delivery, and quality.
  8. Spearhead negotiations on procurement matters on behalf of the Hospital.
  9. Oversee the implementation of purchase agreements and contracts.
  10. Manage and maintain records, including stock profiles and stock locations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Masters in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a Hospital setup.
  • Experience in international procurement is an added advantage.
  • Membership with KISM/CIPS in good standing.
  • Demonstrates professional competence, accountability, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at presenting complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with Procurement Management Information systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Thorough knowledge of the Industrial Market.
