Agronomy Data Scientist

We are seeking an accomplished Data Scientist to join our dynamic team in Nairobi, Kenya.

The successful candidate will apply cutting-edge data science techniques to extract valuable insights from trial and survey data, providing tailored agronomic recommendations that drive sustainable agricultural practices.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in data analysis and decision support tools development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data-driven solutions to improve agronomic management and climate adaptation
• Develop and deploy decision support tools (DSTs) for improved farmer decision making
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate seasonal crop forecasts and optimize planting dates
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of APIs for seamless integration with partners' systems

Requirements:

• PhD or MSc degree in data science, crop or climate modeling, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or agronomy/soil science
• At least two years of experience in data analytics and decision support tools development
• Demonstrated proficiency in statistical modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms
• Strong R and Python programming skills
• Experience working with gridded datasets and spatial modeling
