Job Description

• Conduct clients' consultation to understand their legal issues, needs, and objectives, providing advice accordingly.
• Provide legal and technical advice, including drafting legal opinions.
• Undertake due diligence on various litigation matters.
• Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, precedents, and case law to build on each case assigned.
• Draft and review various legal documents.
• Manage deadlines and court schedules effectively, ensuring timely filings and appearances.
• Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents with the appropriate court or tribunal.
• Collaborate with advocates and colleagues in high-value litigation cases to achieve success.
• Represent clients in legal matters such as hearings, motions, and trial proceedings.
• Regularly update clients on the status of their cases in a simple manner by breaking down legal terminologies.
• Conduct cross-examination.
• Engage, draft, and review settlement agreements to ensure clients' interests are protected through favorable resolutions.
• Correspond and negotiate with opposing counsel to resolve disputes favorably.
• Ensure invoicing, collection of payable fees, and timely payments are made.
• Bias towards building positive relationships with clients and potential clients.
• Participate and contribute to the growth of the litigation department's goals and objectives.
• Enhance the firm's client base through effective liaison with existing clients.
• Provide legal opinions on matters relating to property & real estate.
• Draft conveyancing documents and legal documents.
• Send terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements.
• Oversee handling of all client matters before the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, and Survey of Kenya & National Lands Commission.
• Liaise with clients and key stakeholders such as mortgage lenders, estate agents, land valuers.
• Ability to prepare security documents and ensure they are properly executed and registered.
• Provide legal opinion, advice on conveyancing, commercial, and corporate transactions and matters relating to property & real estate.
• Carry out negotiation, drafting, and review of commercial contracts, legal documents, and ensuring they are duly executed.
• Offer legal advice to clients on the legal processes involved in purchasing & selling of property.
• Conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions, prepare sale agreements, completion documents, and ensure proper registration of documents.
• Prepare property lease agreements & ensure contracts are duly signed as scheduled.
• Liaise with clients and key stakeholders such as mortgage lenders, Land Registry, Government Departments, estate agents, land valuers, and surveyors.
• Assist with due diligence and other intellectual property issues related to contracts, agreements, and other transactional matters.
