Chief Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant to oversee the end-to-end payroll process, supporting financial accounting functions.

The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of experience, preferably from a Big 5 audit firm, and demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and technical accounting expertise.

• Payroll Management:
• Process and manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, HELB, etc.)
• Maintain up-to-date payroll records and ensure timely submission of statutory returns
• Prepare and post payroll journals to the general ledger
• Coordinate with HR on employee contracts, onboarding, exits, and benefits administration (e.g., medical insurance, pensions)
• Handle payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws and internal policies

• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
• Support preparation of financial statements and audit schedules
• Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist in general ledger maintenance
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes related to staff costs

• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit requirements
• Support internal and external audits related to payroll and employee costs

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with a Big 5 firm
• Proven experience in payroll processing and financial accounting
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Dynamics 365) and Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
