Job Description
">- We are seeking an experienced Litigation Advocate to join our team in Nairobi.
Responsibilities
">- Meet with clients to understand their legal issues, provide advice accordingly, and interview them on their needs and objectives.
- Provide legal and technical advice, including drafting legal opinions.
- Conduct due diligence on litigation matters.
- Research relevant laws, regulations, precedents, and case law to build on each case assigned.
- Draft and review various legal documents.
- Manage deadlines and court schedules effectively, ensuring timely filings and appearances.
- Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents with the appropriate court or tribunal.
- Collaborate with advocates and colleagues in high-value litigation cases.
- Represent clients in legal matters such as hearings, motions, and trial proceedings.
- Update clients on case status in a simple manner, breaking down legal terminology.
- Conduct cross-examination.
- Engage in settlement negotiations and draft agreements to protect client interests.
- CORespond with opposing counsel to resolve disputes favorably.
- Ensure timely invoicing and collection of payable fees.
- BUILD strong relationships with clients and potential clients.
- Participate in the growth of the litigation department's goals and objectives.
Requirements
">- Two years of post-admission experience in a busy law firm.
- Upper 2nd Class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
- A valid practicing certificate.
