Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced Litigation Advocate to join our team in Nairobi.

Responsibilities

">
  1. Meet with clients to understand their legal issues, provide advice accordingly, and interview them on their needs and objectives.
  2. Provide legal and technical advice, including drafting legal opinions.
  3. Conduct due diligence on litigation matters.
  4. Research relevant laws, regulations, precedents, and case law to build on each case assigned.
  5. Draft and review various legal documents.
  6. Manage deadlines and court schedules effectively, ensuring timely filings and appearances.
  7. Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents with the appropriate court or tribunal.
  8. Collaborate with advocates and colleagues in high-value litigation cases.
  9. Represent clients in legal matters such as hearings, motions, and trial proceedings.
  10. Update clients on case status in a simple manner, breaking down legal terminology.
  11. Conduct cross-examination.
  12. Engage in settlement negotiations and draft agreements to protect client interests.
  13. CORespond with opposing counsel to resolve disputes favorably.
  14. Ensure timely invoicing and collection of payable fees.
  15. BUILD strong relationships with clients and potential clients.
  16. Participate in the growth of the litigation department's goals and objectives.

Requirements

">
  • Two years of post-admission experience in a busy law firm.
  • Upper 2nd Class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • A valid practicing certificate.
