Senior TVET Specialist for Capacity Building and Public-Private Partnerships

At Comundo, we recognize the critical role Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays in bridging the skills gap and equipping young people with competencies needed to thrive in the labour market.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior TVET Specialist to enhance the quality and relevance of vocational training in Laikipia County by adapting the Dual-VET model to local contexts.

As a Senior TVET Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening the capacity of Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) in delivering Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) and transversal skills development.

• You will assist in the establishment of industry liaison and career guidance offices in each target VTC, as well as strengthening Public-Private Partnerships with industry stakeholders.
• You will contribute to building the capacity of VTC trainers in implementing CBET methodologies and integrating transversal skills development across Laikipia County and beyond.

1. Conducting a comprehensive needs assessment to analyse youth skills gaps, market trends, and the overall TVET landscape in Laikipia County.

2. Refining the adapted dual-VET model and overseeing the pilot implementation in selected VTCs.

3. Establishing and strengthening partnerships between VTCs and local industries to enhance training relevance and job placement opportunities.

4. Developing and delivering training programs to enhance instructors' competencies in CBET methodologies, transversal skills, and dual education, while providing ongoing mentorship and support.

5. Creating a framework for the continuous professional development of VTC staff.

6. Facilitating the integration of youth into the workforce by supporting career readiness initiatives and employment linkages.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A solid background in education or technical training.
• Experience in TVET and dual education, education management, and working with the private sector.
• Additional experience in Organisational Development, project management, and communication is an added advantage.

• Completed vocational or tertiary education.
• At least 3 years of professional experience.
