Tiko inspires futures where girls and young women take charge of their sexual and reproductive choices, with the freedom to shape their lives. Founded in 2014, Tiko is an African nonprofit organization that enhances the potential and fosters the resilience of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Sub-Saharan Africa by addressing the critical "Triple Threat": early pregnancy, HIV, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
Tiko has developed its own unique girl-centric technology platform to unite an ecosystem of existing, established partners to provide an environment enabling girls to choose when, where, and how they meet their health and wellbeing needs. Leveraging this technology-enabled, community-driven approach, Tiko collaborates with local and national health systems to drive sustainable, transformative change. Tiko operates in seven countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia, and Nigeria.

For this role, we are looking for candidates based in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Job
The Privacy Officer plays a vital role in fostering a strong culture of privacy and safeguarding personal data across the organization. Sitting within the Privacy and Security department, you will support the Legal Manager – Privacy, AI, DPO in ensuring Tiko remains fully compliant with applicable privacy laws. You will have autonomy to work independently while collaborating closely with teams across the organization to identify privacy risks and implement effective mitigations.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in implementing and maintaining Tiko's privacy compliance framework
- Supporting the handling of Data Subject Requests
- Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
- Reviewing and updating the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
- Supporting investigations related to data breaches
- Organising and maintaining privacy documentation in G-Suite
- Collaborating with departments to ensure organization-wide privacy compliance
- Assisting with training sessions for employees, service providers, and CBOs
- Drafting Privacy Notices and Privacy Agreements
- Acting as the point of contact for privacy matters when the Legal Manager is unavailable
- Support colleagues across various projects as needed and provide troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth and compliant operations
About You
You are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about embedding privacy into everyday operations. You thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to safeguarding the rights and data of all individuals connected to Tiko's mission.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, or related legal/tech fields
- Practical experience with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, NDPR or equivalent African/ international privacy regulations)
- Experience conducting PIAs and supporting privacy compliance programmes
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging multiple stakeholders
- Experience with drafting privacy documentation (policies, notices, agreements)
- Demonstrated ability to train or support others on privacy-related topics
- Familiarity with data breach response processes and privacy risk assessments

The Rewards
At Tiko we believe in being open, also when it comes to salaries. The monthly salary bracket for this position is Ksh197,266 - Ksh246,583 gross per month. We will offer you a salary within this bracket depending on your experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
