COMPANY INFORMATION Our client is an enterprise operating on a largeranch that historically was part of a privately owned wildlife conservancyknown for its extensive land holdings and natural grazing environment. ROLE PURPOSE The Livestock Specialist will overseedaily ranch operations related to livestock health, nutrition, and management. Theywill be responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive fatteningprogram for the herd, ensuring that cattle reach optimal condition and weightin preparation for market or downstream use. The Specialist will also overseeherd health, welfare, and performance management, combining technical expertisewith strategic oversight to maximize productivity and quality.DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES · Animal Health & Welfare – Conduct daily examinations of animals to detect illness or injury,administer medications and vaccinations as required, and coordinate withveterinarians for complex issues. Ensure all animal handling proceduresprioritize animal welfare.· Nutrition & Feeding Programs – Design, implement, and monitor specialized feeding plans and balancedrations to achieve target weight gain efficiently. Mix feeds, additives, andsupplements in prescribed portions and monitor food and water supplies.· Grazing & Pasture Management – Implement sustainable and regenerative grazing practices, includingrotational grazing plans, to enhance soil health and ensure sufficient forageaccess.· Operational Management – Oversee daily ranch tasks, including cleaning pens,maintaining equipment and facilities (fencing, water systems, barns), andoperating farm machinery.· Infrastructure Maintenance – Perform regular maintenance and simple repairs onrelated equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, fences, and water systems.· Record Keeping – Maintain accurate and detailed records on animal health, feedingregimens, growth progress, and production costs. · Team Collaboration – Trainand supervise ranch hands or other farm workers, fostering a collaborative andsafe working environment.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE· A Bachelor'sdegree or Diploma in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a relatedagricultural field is typically required.· Relevant experiencein livestock management, particularly in commercial feedlot or ranch settings.· Extensive experiencein cattle fattening or livestock production, preferably with large herds· Strongknowledge of cattle nutrition, growth optimization, health management, andwelfare best practices· Strongobservational skills, physical stamina to work outdoors in various weatherconditions, ability to operate farm machinery (tractors, ATVs), andproblem -solving capabilities. · Provenexperience supervising livestock teams or farm staff in a structured productionenvironment.
