What Does a Cargo Agent Do?
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to cargo customers professionally and in compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures
- Validate documentation, inspect cargo packaging, and ensure compliance with airline cargo acceptance policies
- Issue Air Waybills (AWB) and compute actual and volumetric weights accurately
- Collect payments and issue official receipts for all cargo-related transactions
- Prepare and submit end-of-day reports, NOTOC, and cargo manifests
- Coordinate with load planners and ramp teams to ensure timely loading of cargo
- Check and report the condition of incoming cargo; manage unclaimed or for-disposal cargoes
- Ensure proper documentation and ID validation prior to the release of cargo to consignees
- Assist in the safe and accurate pull-out of shipments by shippers
- Explain Conditions of Carriage and regulatory restrictions to clients
- May be assigned as Ramp Representative to oversee cargo loading coordination
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Cargo Supervisors
- Graduate of a 4-year course, preferably in Hospitality Management or Tourism
- Preferably with experience in a customer service or cargo handling environment
- Service-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in problem-solving, organization, and adaptable thinking
- Computer literate and capable of using basic office systems
- Excellent active listening and customer resolution skills
