1. Background
SORALO
is a community-based and community-driven land trust established in 2004. We work in Kenya's South Rift Valley, a bridge between the Maasai Mara and Amboseli. Our primary role is to ensure the integrity of this landscape for the benefit of its people and wildlife.
We are implementing community health programs aimed at improving access to primary health services, disease surveillance, and health promotion in underserved areas. We are looking to hire a Community Field Health Officer who will play a key role in strengthening community health systems and ensuring data-driven decision-making at the field level.

2. Purpose of the Position
The Community Field Health Officer will be responsible for implementing community-based health activities, mobilizing community structures, and collecting, managing, and analyzing health data. The officer will ensure quality reporting and contribute to program monitoring, evaluation, and improvement.
3. Key Responsibilities
Health Program Implementation
- Coordinate and support outreach and health promotion activities in collaboration with community health Promoters (CHPs) and local stakeholders.
- Support implementation of maternal and reproductive health, Family Planning, child health, nutrition, immunization, and disease surveillance interventions.
- Identify and coordinate appropriate community responses.
Community Engagement
- Strengthen relationships with community leaders, Unit health committee members, CHPs, and health facility staff.
- Organize community health education sessions and focus group discussions.
- Facilitate referrals to health facilities and follow up on service uptake.
Data Collection and Management
- Collect accurate and timely health-related data from communities using mobile tools or paper-based forms.
- Conduct regular data verification and quality control in collaboration with the M&E team.
- Maintain organized records and databases of health indicators and field activities.
Capacity Building
- Provide training and mentoring to CHPs on data tools, reporting, and basic health topics.
- Support health facilities in strengthening community-based data systems.
4. Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- A degree or diploma in Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, or a related health field.
- Additional certification in Data Management, Health Information Systems, or M&E is an asset.
Experience:
- At least 1–3 years of experience in community-based health programming.
- Demonstrated experience in collecting and analyzing health data in field settings.
- Experience working with DHIS2, ODK, Kobo Toolbox, CommCare, or other digital data collection tools preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of public health principles and community engagement strategies.
- Excellent data analysis and visualization skills (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and local language(s).
- Ability to ride a motorcycle or work in remote, hard-to-reach areas is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
5. Deliverables and Reporting
- Monthly reports on community health activities and key indicators.
- Data summaries and dashboards for internal and external use.
- Documentation of best practices, success stories, and community feedback.
- Support to quarterly and annual program review reports.
6. Working Conditions:
- Frequent travel within field sites and communities.
- Flexible working hours depending on community schedules and emergencies.
