
LPG Technician

The LPG Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of LPG & Bobtail truck systems, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. Inspecting LPG pumps, meters, valves, pressure regulators, and piping systems to detect and resolve any issues that could affect performance or safety. Conduct routine preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns promptly, and ensure all repairs comply with industry safety standards and company policies. Additionally, they will work closely with the fleet and workshop teams to diagnose technical problems, recommend solutions, and maintain accurate service records.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on LPG systems, including pumps, meters, valves, pressure regulators, and piping, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair faults in LPG delivery truck systems, addressing leaks, pressure irregularities, and mechanical failures promptly to minimize downtime.
- Installation & Modifications: Install new LPG components, retrofit existing systems, and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to industry safety regulations, company policies, and local LPG handling guidelines, preventing hazards and ensuring operational integrity.
- Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to breakdowns or system malfunctions, providing on-site support to minimize disruptions to LPG deliveries.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair logs for each vehicle, ensuring accurate tracking of maintenance history.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the fleet, workshop, and safety teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, share technical insights, and implement best practices.
- Training & Support: Assist in training drivers and other personnel on LPG system safety, proper handling, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
- Inventory Management: Monitor spare parts and equipment levels, coordinating with procurement to ensure the availability of necessary components for repairs and servicing.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest LPG system technologies, maintenance techniques, and regulatory changes to enhance efficiency and safety in fleet operations.
- Assist with mechanical repairs of fleet assets and perform routine checks.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- LPG system diagnosis to be conducted and submitted within 24 hours of reporting.
- LPG system repair time of 12 hours when parts are availed.
- First time fix rate of 100%. (0% repeat jobs).
- 100% customer satisfaction.
- 100% safety compliance.
- Submit a daily general work and progress report at the Close of business.
- Weekly preventative checklist on each Bobtail asset.
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Automotive engineering or equivalent.
- At least 3 years' proven work experience in the same role.
- Any LPG system Certification is advantageous.
- Advanced knowledge of diesel and hydraulic system components.
- Good IT diagnostic knowledge.
- Valid driving license.
- Aptitude for mathematics and science.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds.
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Knowledge in LPG system maintenance.
- Certificate of Good Conduct is mandatory.
- Computer literacy.
