CGCOC Group Co. Ltd, in Joint Venture with Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd and Beijing Heshuntong Municipal Engineering Co. Ltd, has been awarded the contract for the "Construction Works for Rehabilitation of Central Nairobi Area Water Network." The project is located within Nairobi's Central Business District and Central Industrial Area and is being implemented under the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA).

Job Summary

The AutoCAD Specialist will be responsible for producing, updating, and managing all project drawings and design documentation related to the rehabilitation of the Central Nairobi Area Water Network. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and close coordination with the design, construction, and quality assurance teams to ensure that all drawings meet contractual, engineering, and client standards.

Detail Duties

1. Drafting & Design Support

  • Prepare detailed 
    2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings
     including layouts, plans, sections, and as-built drawings for water supply pipelines, chambers, and associated infrastructure.
  • Update and revise drawings as per design modifications, site instructions, or engineer's comments.
  • Prepare 
    shop drawings
     and 
    as-built drawings
     based on site surveys and mark-ups.

2. Documentation & Drawing Control

  • Maintain an organized 
    drawing register
     and version control system for all design and construction drawings.
  • Ensure that all drawings are checked, approved, and properly filed (both soft and hard copies).
  • Coordinate with the 
    Contract Engineer
     and 
    Document Controller
     for submission of drawings to the Client and Consultant.

3. Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with the design, construction, and survey teams to translate site data into accurate drawings.
  • Support the site engineers in interpreting design drawings and resolving discrepancies.
  • Participate in design review and technical coordination meetings.

4. Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure all drawings comply with 
    project specifications, AWWDA standards, FIDIC contract requirements
    , and applicable engineering codes.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and data accuracy prior to drawing submission.
  • Incorporate 
    Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH)
     considerations into design layouts where applicable.

5. Reporting & Administrative Tasks

  • Prepare weekly progress summaries of drawing and documentation status.
  • Maintain drawing archives, plotter/printer maintenance logs, and support preparation of design presentations.
  • Assist in preparing project visuals, maps, and brochures for site visits and stakeholder presentations.

Employee Qualification & Requirement

Education:

  • BSc in Engineering Drafting/ AutoCad , Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • OR a recognized National Diploma in a related discipline.

Experience:

Total work experience:
 Minimum 8 years.

Similar work experience:
 Minimum 4 years in Autocad drawings on large-scale infrastructure or water supply projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Familiarity with 
    WaterCAD
