Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Gem, Siaya for an Aquaculture Intern-Hatchery. The intern will assist with daily hatchery operations, including feeding, monitoring, and maintaining tilapia ponds. Responsibilities also include water quality analysis, data collection, equipment maintenance, outreaches to farmers and contributing to the overall improvement of hatchery practices. The role involves close collaboration with the aquaculture team to ensure optimal production and adherence to environmental sustainability standards.

Qualifications

• Technical knowledge in aquaculture, hatchery operations, and aquatic species care
• Skills in water quality monitoring and data analysis
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with equipment maintenance and environmental sustainability practices
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
• A diploma, degree or ongoing study in Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or related fields is advantageous
• Prior experience in aquaculture or hatchery operations is a plus
