Through our Strategic Communications Department and our media/production unit, we design and deliver impactful storytelling combining journalism, film, and digital content to amplify evidence-based governance, recovery, and development outcomes. Our teams frequently produce content for UN agencies and international organizations for online broadcast and digital distribution.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic
Senior Journalist / Content Producer
to lead content development and multimedia production for online TV and digital platforms. The role will plan, report, script, and produce compelling, credible stories on development, innovation, governance, and stabilization primarily on behalf of UN clients and other partners. The ideal candidate pairs strong editorial judgment with hands-on production expertise and can translate complex policy and programmatic themes into engaging digital content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end production of news and feature stories for online TV and digital channels (researching, scripting, reporting, presenting, and packaging).
  • Produce and manage assignments for UN clients and development partners, ensuring brand, consent, and safeguarding compliance.
  • Conduct interviews and on-camera reports; coordinate field shoots, B-roll, and live/remote coverage.
  • Oversee scripting, shot-lists, schedules, call sheets, and post-production (editing, voice-over, graphics, captions).
  • Develop creative formats (explainers, mini-docs, short social, reels) that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with communications strategists to align outputs to campaign objectives, KPIs, and M&E frameworks.
  • Represent Farsight at press events, briefings, and stakeholder engagements as assigned; mentor junior producers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or related field.
  • 5+ years in broadcast/digital/multimedia journalism with a strong on-air or bylined portfolio.
  • Proven experience producing for TV/online platforms; UN/international development storytelling is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with camera operations, field audio, lighting, and professional NLEs (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut).
  • Excellent writing, scripting, and interviewing skills; strong visual and narrative sense.
  • Fluency in English and Somali (written and spoken) mandatory.
  • Ability to work under pressure, travel to field locations, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with live broadcasting, motion graphics, and basic analytics is an added advantage.
