We are currently looking for a highly capable Clerk of Works to take charge of our technical supervision. You will inspect and oversee all construction, maintenance and infrastructure to ensure our hotel is well-structured, safe and beautifully presentable. If you are self-driven and ready to bring your technical expertise to an unconventional environment, we want to hear from you Role Purpose To provide technical supervision and inspection of construction, maintenance and infrastructure works at Lavington Hotel Limited, ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, quality standards, agreed programs and applicable health and safety requirements. The position is responsible for monitoring contractors, inspecting workmanship, verifying completed works, maintaining project records and reporting progress, risks and deficiencies to management.

Key Responsibilities
A. Construction Supervision
- Monitor and inspect construction and maintenance works undertaken by contractors.
- Conduct day-to-day inspection of works to ensure that workmanship meets the required standards and specifications.
- Inspect critical stages of construction and confirm compliance before works proceed.
- Monitor progress of works against approved drawings, specifications and project programs.
- Identify construction defects, deficiencies and deviations and ensure that corrective action is taken.
- Highlight potential design and specification issues that may affect the quality, cost or completion of the project.
- Monitor the use and quality of construction materials and equipment. B. Contractor Management
- Monitor and supervise contractors and subcontractors undertaking works at Lavington Hotel Limited.
- Ensure contractors comply with contractual requirements, approved specifications and agreed work programs.
- Monitor contractor performance and report delays, deficiencies and other areas of concern.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, Quantity Surveyors, engineers, architects and other project stakeholders as required.
- Follow up on outstanding works and defects until satisfactory completion. C. Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect workmanship and construction practices on site.
- Ensure specified tests and inspections are carried out where required.
- Verify that installations and equipment are provided in accordance with approved specifications.
- Identify and report non-conforming works to the contractor and relevant project manager.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building regulations, health and safety requirements and other legal requirements. D. Measurement and Verification of Works
- Measure and verify works completed by contractors.
- Assist in establishing the actual scope of works executed.
- Liaise with the Quantity Surveyor or relevant technical personnel in the valuation and verification of completed works.
- Review contractor work claims against physical works completed.
- Identify variations between approved works and works executed and report them to management.
- Maintain accurate records of measurements and completed works. E. Project Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor project progress against approved programs and schedules.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly site progress reports.
- Maintain a site diary and appropriate project records.
- Document progress through photographic evidence where necessary.
- Record site meetings, instructions, identified risks, defects and corrective actions.
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Technical and relevant management.
- Highlight potential delays, risks and issues that may affect project completion. F. Post-Construction and Maintenance
- Inspect completed works and identify outstanding defects requiring rectification.
- Monitor maintenance and repair works undertaken on farm infrastructure and facilities.
- Support the Technical Department in monitoring the condition and performance of installations and facilities.
- Follow up on maintenance works to ensure they are completed to the required standard.
- Maintain records of completed construction, maintenance and repair works. G. Health and Safety
- Conduct routine site inspections to ensure safe working practices are maintained.
- Ensure contractors comply with Lavington Hotel Limited's health and safety requirements.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is used by contractors and other personnel working on construction or maintenance activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, hazards and non-compliance to the responsible manager.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly condition. H. Documentation and Records
- Maintain proper records and documentation for ongoing and completed works.
- Maintain site diaries, inspection records, measurements, photographs and progress reports.
- Ensure project documentation is properly filed and readily available for reference and audit purposes.
- Maintain records of defects, corrective actions and project close-out activities. I. Other Duties
- Participate in project and site meetings as required.
- Provide technical information and support to management on assigned projects.
- Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Building Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related technical field.
- Relevant professional registration or membership will be an added advantage.
- Registration with the National Construction Authority (NCA), where applicable.
- Training in Occupational Health and Safety will be an added advantage.
- At least 10 years’ relevant experience in construction supervision, clerk of works, site supervision or a related technical position.
- Experience in supervising contractors and subcontractors.
- Experience in site inspection and quality control.
- Experience in measurement and verification of completed works.
- Experience in project reporting and documentation.
