Nairobi, Kenya Corporate Staffing Services Full time

Accounting vacancies in Kenya. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual to join our team as an accountant. The accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and providing insights to support informed decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, regularly to assess the financial health of the supermarket and identify trends or areas of concern. Generate and distribute financial reports to management, providing insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and achieving business objectives.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with management, incorporating input from various departments to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives. Monitor budgetary performance throughout the fiscal year, tracking actual results against budgeted targets and investigating variances to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and vendor reconciliation, to ensure timely and accurate payments while optimizing cash flow management. Oversee accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and customer account reconciliation, to minimize delinquencies and improve cash flow efficiency.

Inventory Control:

Coordinate with operations and procurement teams to establish and maintain accurate inventory records, performing regular reconciliations and adjustments as necessary to ensure proper valuation and reporting of inventory assets. Analyze inventory turnover ratios, aging reports, and shrinkage trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and inventory optimization.

Compliance and Audit Support:

Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and internal policies and procedures, maintaining proper documentation and supporting schedules for audits and regulatory filings. Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation, answering inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations to strengthen internal controls and mitigate risks.

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field CPA certification Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting preferably in the retail industry. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks or similar programs is a plus. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
