About Gulf African Bank
The genesis of Gulf African Bank (GAB) can be traced back to 2005, when a group of motivated Kenyans envisioned establishing an Islamic bank as an alternative to conventional banking in the country. By conducting business on the principles of Shari'ah, the bank would provide an ethical and fair mode of banking for all. Gulf African Bank is the first and largest Islamic Bank in Kenya and one of the fastest growing banks in the history of the banking sector of the country. The bank offers fully Shari'ah compliant products and services that address the needs of not just Muslims, but everyone in the country including individuals, corporate companies, and institutions. The bank was incorporated on August 9th, 2006 and started operations as a commercial bank in January 8th 2008, in a historic event, where it was granted the country’s first fully-fledged commercial banking license as a dedicated Islamic bank, by the Central Bank of Kenya.
Job Purpose
Responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management, formulates partnerships across various functions to deliver value-added services that reflects the business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Developing the HR agenda, support in the development of HR strategies, policies, and practices to attract, motivate and retain staff at eh same time create a favorable working environment that fosters collaboration; Analyze trends and metrics in partnership to develop solutions, programs and policies; Assess workplace performance and find issues hampering productivity; Undertake recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for the functions in line with the resourcing strategy; Undertake reward and recognition activities: Manage employee engagement activities, including settling disputes and dealing with complaints or grievances; Consults with line management, providing HR guidance on matters people; Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required; Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions); Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention; Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation; Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers; Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning; Identifies training needs for business units and provide coaching when required; Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.Skills & Experience
Analytical abilities to assess performance and understand long-term strategies. Bachelor’s degree CHRP Certified Professional Experience in HR with at least 3 years in HR partnership. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including structure & work design, productivity analysis talent acquisition, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management among others. Creativity to come up with solutions and deal with the unique challenges of today’s dynamic business world. Organization skills to manage HR for different departments and teams. Communication skills to discuss strategies with executives and explain plans and requirements to managers and employees. Excellent interpersonal and relations building skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Good coaching skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with SAGE or related HR software and ability to use social media to connect with talent.Click Here To Apply
