ABOUT THE COMPANY

Tourism Fund is a body corporate established under the Tourism Act, 2011 which came into operation on 1st September, 2012 vide special issue Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 93 of 24th August, 2012. The Fund is the legal successor to Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees.

JOB SUMMARY

Academic qualificationsi.   Bachelors’ degree in Law (LL. B) degree from a recognized institution;ii.  Masters’ degree in Law (LL.M), or Social Sciences, or Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.iii. Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Advocates Training Programme) from the Kenya School of Law;Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodiesi.     Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;ii.   Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing;iii.  Hold current practicing certificate;iv.  Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;v.    Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;vi.  Proficiency in computer applications; andPrevious relevant work experience required.A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience five (5) of which must have been in a supervisory position;

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Coordinating the legal services’ function;2.      Formulating, implementing and reviewing the Fund’s legal policies and procedures;3.      Providing legal risk reviews and advice on risk mitigation;4.      Representing the Fund in Court matters and managing litigation;5.      Participating in developing and ensuring compliance with the Fund’s Policies and strategies;6.      Undertaking legal research and preparing legal opinions and memoranda on matters relating to the Fund;7.      Advising the Fund on legal and regulatory compliance;8.      Advising on procedures, legal requirements on matters relating to the Fund’s properties, staff and any other issues that may attract litigation;9.      Drafting contracts and other legal documents;10.  Initiating required legislation amendments for the promotion of the Fund’s activities;11.  Reviewing and drafting contracts, internal policies and ensuring that they are in compliance with all statutory requirements;12.  Reviewing, initiating, vetting and negotiating contracts, formal agreements and other legal instruments to meet the laid down requirements for execution;13.  Managing and undertaking performance management;14.  Initiating required legislation amendments for the promotion of the Fund’s activities;15.  Assisting the Corporation Secretary in offering Fund secretarial Services; and16.  Registering the Fund’s documents for intellectual property;17.  Undertaking risk mitigation in the functional area.
