ABOUT THE COMPANY

Safaricom, Ltd is a leading mobile network operator in Kenya. It was formed in 1997 as a fully owned subsidiary of Telkom Kenya. In May 2000, Vodafone Group Plc of the United Kingdom acquired a 40% stake and management responsibility for the company. Safaricom employs over 1,500 people mainly stationed in Nairobi and other big cities like Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret in which it manages retail outlets. Currently, it has nationwide dealerships to ensure customers across the country have access to its products and services.

JOB SUMMARY

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field3+ years of professional experience working with Android4+ years of professional software development experienceA very good understanding about mobile applications and programming languages such as Kotlin, Java, SqlLite, XML together with their mainstream IDEs such as Android Studio. Knowledge in Swift, React Native, Flutter, Kotlin Multiplatform and Xcode is an added advantageA strong understanding on Single Activity and MVVM architecture patterns and Jetpack components like NavigationExperience in RESTful API integrations, Version Control (Git) and DevOpsAn understanding on Security Principles with regard to mobile applications and tech platformsExperience in developing Android applicationsA strong desire to learn and figure out how to create market leading user-friendly mobile applicationsQuick to adopt and willingness to work/deliver in a short periodAbility to quickly absorb technical concepts and communicate them to a non-technical audiencePassionate about robust code designKnowledge of UI/UX designs and wireframesAbility to create and maintain continuous integration and delivery of Android applications

RESPONSIBILITIES

Architect, build and maintain excellent mobile applications with clean codeRelease applications to Google Play and Huawei App storesDesign and implement user interface components for mobile applications using from prototypes and wireframesWrite unit, UI, integration and automated tests to ensure error-free code, performance and qualityIntegration to RESTful APIsWork with Coroutines to improve performance of the mobile appsIdentify, plan and implement new mobile products, applications and protocolsCreating efficient data queries and communicating to back-end developers on API issuesBuild reusable code and libraries for future useImplement clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an excellent user experienceWork with modern tools including Confluence, Jira, Slack, GitHub etcReviewing application requirements and interface designsDocumenting application changes and developing updatesCollecting user feedback and optimization of operational experienceOn-going app support, debug and enhancementRemain up to date with the technologies, concepts, best practices and news of mobile applications developmentWork closely with colleagues to constantly innovate app functionality and designCommunicate with users to understand their needs and experiences

REQUIRED SKILLS
