Job Purpose:
  • The main focus of this role is to develop business solutions and capabilities that align with the enterprise architecture set forth by the Group Chief Architect. The emphasis is on Payments applications and related technologies.
  • The Solution Architect will oversee the design and implementation of intricate systems and platforms. They will collaborate with key business stakeholders, CX design teams, development, QA, and operation teams in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.
  • The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of both business and technology. They will play a key role in shaping the construction of Payments capabilities.
  • Supporting the timely delivery of these capabilities and solutions, including active participation in planning and requirements definition alongside business owners and other stakeholders, is crucial to ensure that the Solutions Delivery teams' efforts yield maximum value and are in line with the overarching strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Designing enterprise solutions and capabilities that are scalable, adaptable, and responsive to evolving business requirements, aligned with the architecture strategy established by the Group Chief Architect.
  • Contributing to streamlining IT complexity, enforcing standards, and promoting the standardization of architecture to enhance system interoperability.
  • Leading the design of innovative enterprise solutions by collaborating closely with Programmer Analysts, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and features.
  • Documenting and communicating architectural requirements for solutions and capabilities.
  • Evaluating the current systems architecture and recommending solutions for enhancement.
  • Resolving technical issues promptly.
  • Providing guidance and supervision to development teams.
  • Staying updated on current and emerging technologies and suggesting necessary changes.
  • Informing stakeholders about any technical challenges with current solutions.
  • Assessing the business impact of technical decisions.
  • Offering progress updates to stakeholders regarding product development processes, costs, and budgets.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years' experience in a solution architecture role, preferably in a financial services context.
  • Over 10 years of combined IT and business/industry experience, encompassing architecture design, deployment, system lifecycle management, and infrastructure planning.
  • Prior experience in the financial services sector is desirable.
  • Familiarity with money movement platforms and services is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, FEA, or a combination of these frameworks.
  • Expertise in security technologies, processes, and concepts.
  • Experience in User-Centered Design practices.
  • Proficiency in diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • Experience leading projects using Waterfall and Agile Methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience in designing solutions for hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud); Cloud certification is a bonus.
  • Thorough understanding of coding languages such as Java, Python, and C#.
  • Familiarity with sound software design principles and patterns.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems (Linux, AIX, Solaris, Windows) and databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, and NoSQL DBs).
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex design solutions to non-technical senior stakeholders in an understandable manner.
