Summary of Role:
The selected candidate will take on a key role in leading the development and execution of Climate Change and Health initiatives. As the Technical Advisor for Climate Change and Health in Africa, you will be instrumental in assisting country teams in creating and implementing impactful programs in this field. Your main tasks include providing technical expertise, strategic direction, and leadership in the intersection of health and climate change, and collaborating with various entities, ministries, and organizations to advance sustainable initiatives addressing climate change challenges on public health.
  • Collaborate with Climate Change entities, government ministries, intergovernmental bodies, and regional development organizations to promote initiatives integrating SRHR and community well-being in climate change programs.
  • Work with other technical advisors to support policies, research, and programs benefiting women, adolescents, and children.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Technical Leadership:

Provide technical expertise and guidance to regional and country teams in designing and implementing Climate Change and Health programs.

Support the development of interventions addressing climate change-related health risks.

Develop innovative approaches to enhance the efficiency and impact of Climate Resilience, Adaptation, and Mitigation interventions.


Strategic partnership for fundraising:

Assist country teams in forming strategic partnerships with stakeholders in Climate Change financing including international donors and Private donors.

Identify funding opportunities for Climate Change and Health initiatives from various sources.


Programming Design and Implementation:

Aid country teams in designing and executing effective programming for climate change and health resilience.

Participate in advocacy efforts for family planning, maternal, child, and adolescent health under climate change contexts.



Technical Assistance:

Provide technical support to assess needs and develop Climate and Health Resilience standards and guidance.


Technical Support for Proposals:

Support proposal development and integration of Resilience activities.

Develop project proposals to secure funding for Climate and Health initiatives.



Quality Assurance:

Ensure best practices for services and integration are well-documented and poised for scale-up.

Optimize staff performance and project workplan for scale-up.



Positioning and Visibility:

Represent Pathfinder International at professional meetings and conferences.



Requirements:
Required Education and Work Experience:
Must have a Master's degree in public health, social science, or related field. Minimum 5 years' experience in international development with a focus on empowering women, adolescents, and children and improving health service access. Understanding of Global and Country Specific climate and Health Systems. Concept and Proposal Development:

Proficient in climate and health proposal development and resource mobilization.


Leadership:
Strong leadership skills in health and climate change.

Preferred Competence and Work Experience:
Experience in designing climate resilience projects and project design. Proficiency in English and French languages.
