Summary:

As a skilled Linux System Engineer, your main tasks will revolve around the architecture, design, and advancement of fundamental components crucial for supporting and enhancing Raspberry Pi devices within the Ubuntu Distribution. This role will frequently entail engagement with the upstream community for initiatives such as U-Boot, libcamera, and HATs.

You will also enjoy the chance to collaborate closely with hardware providers and play a key role in shaping the future landscape of Raspberry Pi within the realm of Linux and Ubuntu.


Location:
This position offers the flexibility of remote work within the EMEA region.
What a typical day entails:
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled team to outline and influence the direction of Raspberry Pi platform support for Ubuntu.
  • Develop top-notch code, introduce new functionalities, and contribute to upstream projects.
  • Provide enhancements and fixes to various projects, including GPIO libraries, libcamera, and Ubuntu installers.
  • Diagnose and address issues while delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Review code created by fellow engineers.
  • Exchange ideas and cooperate on developing solutions.
  • Engage with teams dedicated to Ubuntu for server, desktop, IoT, and cloud environments.
  • Work remotely with occasional global travel spanning 2 to 4 weeks annually for both internal and external engagements.

What we seek in you:

  • Hands-on development experience on Raspberry Pi.
  • Familiarity with early boot software like TF-A, OP-TEE, U-Boot, GRUB, or the Linux kernel.
  • A passion for technology and collaborating with talented individuals.
  • Driven, inquisitive, adaptable, expressive, and responsible.
  • A dedicated Linux user with a diverse curiosity in the future prospects of Linux.
  • Experience or a willingness to learn about software packaging for Debian and Ubuntu.
  • Resourceful, considerate, and self-driven.
  • Capability to partake in biannual company events, spanning up to two weeks each.

Additional skills that could be advantageous:

  • Proficiency with Debian/Ubuntu-based operating systems.
  • Solid comprehension of Debian packaging and snaps would be a valuable asset.
