Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of policies, strategies, legislations, guidelines, frameworks, norms, regulations, plans, and standards on nursing and midwifery.
- Lead capacity development and technical assistance initiatives for Government Agencies on nursing and midwifery.
- Provide technical support to ministries, departments, counties, and other government agencies on nursing and midwifery.
- Conduct health surveys and monitor health trends for nursing and midwifery.
- Manage the development, implementation, and review of projects and programmes in nursing and midwifery.
- Establish linkages with relevant stakeholders for nursing and midwifery.
- Offer guidance in determining nursing and midwifery data variables.
- Disseminate national health-related data, reports, and knowledge information for nursing and midwifery.
- Conduct health research and innovation and maintain a repository for nursing and midwifery.
- Collaborate with academic and training institutions to align curricula with national policies and guidelines.
- Identify health resource gaps for nursing and midwifery.
- Mobilize resources for nursing and midwifery projects and programmes.
- Oversee implementation of projects and programmes for health-related infrastructure, products, and technologies for nursing and midwifery.
- Assess quality of care for nursing and midwifery services to ensure adherence to standards and scopes of practice.
- Lead Business Process Re-engineering in nursing and midwifery.
Requirements for this position:
- Minimum of three years' experience at the grade of Deputy Director- Medical Services CSG '6' or in a similar position in the public service.
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Masters Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Systems Management, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Registration and licensing by a recognized regulatory body.
- Membership in a relevant professional body where applicable.
- Demonstrated managerial, administrative, and professional competencies in work performance.
