WHAT YOU WILL DO

Play a crucial role in the success of the oncology therapeutic area by achieving strategic medical goals, fostering scientific leadership, and establishing valuable partnerships with oncology experts, payors, and PAGs.

Develop a deep understanding of the SSA and FSA disease landscape, diagnostics, and treatment access to enhance patient care, encourage early diagnosis, and elevate the quality of oncology treatment.


ABOUT JOB

Lead in medical expertise within the oncology field, driving scientific leadership in the SSA and FSA region at AstraZeneca.

As the Oncology Medical Head, oversee the medical affairs team, drive scientific leadership, and align organizational objectives with a cross-functional team.

Engage Opinion Leaders, contribute medical expertise to brand strategies, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Responsible for developing and executing the Medical Plan/Activities in line with Brand strategy and acting as a Nominated Signatory medical approver.


Typical accountabilities will include:
  • Build and develop a customer-focused, performance-driven medical affairs team.
  • Ensure alignment of Medical Affairs objectives with the Strategic plan and vision.
  • Monitor team performance and drive an enterprise mindset for goal achievement.
  • Lead succession planning and talent pipeline development.
  • Identify and provide coaching based on development needs.

Continuously acquire and update scientific knowledge, implement local medical strategic plans, and provide leadership in medical programmes.


Generate medical evidence to support brand strategies, contribute to regulatory shaping, and support market access activities.
  • Develop partnerships, support drug value packs, and collaborate with regulatory teams.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and regulations including patient safety and promotional compliance.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Qualified Medical Doctor / MSc/PhD in a scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in medical affairs roles.
  • Medical/Scientific knowledge in the responsible disease area.
  • Leadership skills with expertise in coaching and feedback.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Required fluency in English.
