Job Title: O&M Associate

PowerGen is a leading provider of turnkey energy solutions to residential, community, commercial, and industrial customers in East Africa and beyond. Founded in 2011, we focus on providing robust photo-voltaic and wind systems for off-grid demands.

As an O&M Associate, you will be a key member of our Grid Operations team. You'll be responsible for supporting our customers who use electricity from our micro-grids each day, addressing and solving unplanned problems on-site, and contributing to the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and work plans to ensure smooth operation of the O&M team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Address and solve unplanned problems on-site, including electricity outages, asset vandalism, and reticulation issues.
• Build and hire Technicians to support the team's goals and objectives.
• Contributing to the creation of SOPS, processes, templates, and work plans.
• Scheduling and planning preventative maintenance activities, including quarterly maintenance trips and diesel generator refueling trips.
• Providing feedback to enable long-term improvement of design, installation, service, and O&M across various teams at PowerGen.

Qualifications:
• 3+ years' experience in engineering construction, operation, and maintenance services, preferably in overhead distribution, PV solar installations, and generators.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or any related course.
• Registration with a professional body such as EPRA.
• Technical engineering background and demonstrated ability to learn the specific technical aspects of the PowerGen business.
• Fluency in Kiswahili and English, both in written and oral communications.
• Kenyan citizenship.
• Valid Drivers' License.
• Ability to work with a team of 10+ full-time employees and contractors.
• Budgeting skills for the team's operations.
• Ability to train, manage, and ensure field employees observe safety standards while working.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility and eagerness to lend a hand wherever needed.
• Enthusiasm in working for the field of renewable energy.
